Thank you very much for your support.
I'm very proud of the campaign that I ran and grateful for the support I recieved from so many members of the community. It was an absolute pleasure to interact with thousands of residents talking about issues important to them, how they feel about the city, and what concerns them. I'm also very happy with my second-place showing—my platform and priorities really resonated with people, and I'm sure that the new Council will be looking to the issues we raised for guidance over the next four years.
Congratulations to Mary Lou Roe—she's a great person that cares deeply about Waterloo—and she has my full support in her role as Ward 6 Councillor.
My website at vote.matthewschwarze.ca will stay up for achival purposes, but you can check out www.matthewschwarze.ca as I build it out for what I'm up to, and I'm always available at email@example.com.
Hi, I’m Matthew Schwarze—I’m a local community leader that is looking forward to making Waterloo his lifetime home with his partner, Catherine.
Making the most of this role will take excitement and drive, a willingness to listen to all residents, and a commitment to always looking for ways to improve what the City is already doing. I bring experience in representing people, in working collaboratively to find solutions, and leading changes at a complex organization.
"Matthew is very forward thinking and really investigates all sides of an issue. He is in my experience very engaged with the people he represents as well as stakeholders that are needed for change. I am confident based on my conversations with Matthew that my needs as a resident have been heard."
– Colleen Richter, Ward 6 homeowner and resident
Read about my priorities below. I see my priorities as a living document—I believe in everything there, but I'm often adding new details and ideas based on what I hear out in the community and speaking to residents all across the ward. If you have any questions or suggestions, please reach out—I'd love to hear from you!

Waterloo needs to build and protect affordable & high-quality housing so that everyone can live, work, study, and age comfortably and safely.
A robust active transit network will allow residents to move around the city quickly and comfortably, and it is essential to becoming a more liveable and sustainable city.
Waterloo has set the path forward on climate action with the TransformWR plan—now we need the commitment to follow through and identify other ways to strengthen our natural environment.
